In the world of literature, there have been many stories and tales that are scattered around the world. Many are based upon myths, stories about nation rising and origin, legends about persons and the one many are likely to read are the stories about love. Among these love stories are the very well-known story of Hamlet. It was one of those classical stories that are put up into a play, and up until today many institutions schools or theatre put up this story.
Hamlet, in its plot, revolves about the story of love and revenge. In most cases, human affections plays a great role on their every day’s act. When a person is happy he tends to perform well and better, but if the person is sad there might be some mistakes be done on his job. Then there is madness, one of the strongest feeling of man that enables him to push through everything and surge with great strength and passion but in a twisted manner. This kind of character was shown by most of the time in the story, one of the person who showed such madness is Hamlet and his ideals about having revenge and also Ophelia and Claudius, might have shown a portion of madness but theirs have different kind of perspective. Ophelia, on another hand turned crazy as he cannot comprehend why Hamlet cannot show affection towards her and keeps on rejecting her. Sooner, Ophelia’s craziness lead her into her death by drowning herself into the river. Indeed, there will be some madness when a person someone too much, as per shown by the character of Ophelia in her feelings for Hamlet, and the same time Hamlet have shown signs of madness as he have ‘relationship’ with Ophelia. At some point in the early part of the story there was no direct proof of Hamlet having feelings for Ophelia, not when the Act V of the story kicks in when the audiences gets the thought that the death of Ophelia affected Hamlet’s true emotions, most especially when he stated directly that he loved her and hopelessly romantic spoke that even a forty thousand brothers cannot be compared or replace her. This part finally speaks up that his madness has rage and sorrow as for he hears upon the death of her beloved Ophelia.
In some part of our life, there would be time that we only realize the worth of someone or something truly means to us is when they are gone or out of life. For Hamlet, Ophelia’s death was painful because he never been able to express his true feeling and when he finally acknowledge his genuine feeling he felt bad for death have been there and not her beloved. Madness then takes place in his mind and he then develop a plan to fool everyone thinking that he some madman or crazy person to seek revenge. And to clarify one of question in this play of the true relationship between Hamlet and Ophelia, while it is being portrayed that Hamlet treated Ophelia in an unfair manner, like calling her names and treating her not nicely. Moreover, this work of play is written by William Shakespeare and it is commonly found on Shakespeare work that the protagonist guy would get into a relationship with women who seems to be far-off from their social status or women whom they though wouldn’t suit them. Additionally, the craziness being felt by Ophelia which lead her into her death was because she was too much selfless and when a person is selfless in a relationship, may be romantic relationship or towards family relationship, when you are giving more than you could always it wound end you being drained and depressed.
