My Most Prized Possession Is My Family
It is often said that family is the most basic as well as important unit of society. These words are not only true but help to reinforce the importance of families in the world. The family can be said to be the basic unit of friendship, the basic child-raising unit, the basic sexual unit, and finally, the basic communication unit. Unlike what some people believe, the family is and not individuals forms or is the building block for societies. The above statement does not discount the importance of individuals but only seeks to ascertain that without the presence of a family, there can never be a society. As I grow older, I have learned to understand and appreciate the role that the family plays in my life. Everything I need in life I always directly or indirectly gets it because of family. I credit my family because through it, I have grown expecting that I may not always have my way, but I will always have people by my side who will comfort me. My family is indeed my most prized possession and in this article I will explain why I esteem my family so highly.
First of all, my siblings are among the closest friends that I have. This is not a common feat and my other friends also find it hard to talk to their siblings about personal things. However, for me, I have grown with the idea that family will always have the best at heart and therefore, I have not had issues when it comes to entrusting some issues to my family. The connection we have is indeed unique and something that I wish to see last for years to come. I find comfort in them and whenever I am heartbroken, they are always my first option because I know I will find warmth in them.
My parents are also some of the most compassionate and friendly people in the world. I always attribute my growth and development into a rational being to my parents. It is often said that families provide a perfect framework for modelling behavior and inculcating values that should last a lifetime. I credit my parents because even though I have grown to have opinions regarding certain aspects of life, they taught me to always maintain objectivity. It is easy to fall prey to the differing sentiments and to assume a position on a matter. However, it is always important to think rationally and to maintain one’s stance regardless of the odds. I always live my life within the confines of the values that were inculcated in me and I credit my parents for raising a respectable and reasonable individual.
Through my family, I have also managed to form other stronger relationships outside my family. The supportive, nurturing, and encouraging environment I grew up in helped me to believe that I should always offer the same kind of environment to others. The above helped me to develop other positive relationships in my childhood days and also in my adulthood. I learned to discern what is the socially acceptable and unacceptable in society and this continues to be one of the most important things I learned from my family.
In conclusion, there are quite a number of reasons why my family is my most prized possession. The joy and fulfillment I get when I see them is priceless and I believe that I will always find comfort and peace in them.
